Speed Boost Mechanics: When to Sprint and How to Conserve Mass

Understanding Slither.io Boost Mechanics
The speed boost (Left Mouse Button / Spacebar) is the most powerful tool in Slither.io, but misuse can drain thousands of mass in seconds.
The Math Behind the Boost
Boosting sheds a stream of energy orbs behind your tail. While this gives you superior velocity to cut off rivals, continuous boosting burns 15% to 25% of your total size in under a minute.
Golden Rules of Boosting
- Tap, Don't Hold: Use micro-bursts of 0.5 to 1 second to make sharp turn adjustments.
- Only Sprint with a Guarantee: Only hold boost if you are certain to cross the victim's trajectory.
- Recover Lost Mass: After securing a kill, circle the remnant cloud to absorb back far more mass than you spent on the kill sprint.
